The use of fossil fuels in vehicles releases huge amount of carbondioxide gas in the air while burning. Carbondioxide gas is a green house gas which blocks the reflected solar radiation to go away in the space. These solar radiation remains in the surface which increases the surface temperature of the earth. This rising in the surface temperature is responsible for the melting of glaciers that leads to the rise of sea level which is a threat for coastal regions. This melting of glaciers also causes floods in the regions so that's why the it is a major issue.
