"why do children" have high-pitched voices and males have lower voices than females

Children have high-pitched voices because their voice boxes have not stretched or grown before puberty begins. As the children go through puberty the boys' voices change and get deeper due to testosterone which makes their vocal folds to grow longer and thicker than those of the girls.
