Well if you are getting straight F's but you say your goal is to get straight A's that is an unrealistic goal but to try to get straight C's might be easier to reach. If your plan is to move out when you turn 18 and pay all living expenses own your own  but do not have a job that is unrealistic. But if you had some money saved and had a job it would be more realistic.  So make sure your goal is reachable. Or in other words not two drastic of a change.
