Plants love water. Ideally, their cells are bulging with water. For plants to achieve this bulge, they have evolved very clever adaptations. Plant roots are made up of cells with semi-permeable membranes (like all cells). When water levels around the roots are low (like in a drought), some plants break up a sugar molecule called sucrose into two smaller sugar molecules (2 single-sugar molecules bonded together). Below shows the roots before sucrose is broken down, and after sucrose is broken down. Explain why the plant roots would take in more water after the plant has turned 1000 sucrose molecules into 2000 glucoses. Use the terms osmosis, concentration gradient, hypertonic, hypotonic. (If a proper and decent answer is given, you shall will rewarded with more points,)
