Only Shakespeare shows a character warning against a doomed relationship.
In the excerpt from "Romeo and Juliet", Benvolio tells Romeo to forget about Rosaline since he can't have her. He counsels Romeo against pining after the girl he can't have and suggests he go look for someone else. Benvolio's solution works because Romeo falls in love with Juliet that night and gets married the next day.
Ovid is not the only one suggesting that relationships have obstacles. Romeo can't be with Rosaline because she has sworn a vow of chastity. Ovid does not show his male character looking for a more suitable companion. Neither of the characters reveal doubts about their beloveds.
