taking into consideration that our goal is to raise money for the library, and after attentively reading both proposals, i've come to believe that the second is is the most efficient one for our needs.
the first proposal may look more directly related to the institution that shall be and offers an interesting idea. of course, it would be ideal to not only raise the money but also get people to learn to enjoy reading. however, that is easier said than done. if it weren't supposed to be a one-afternoon event, but a whole program with steps to awaken and develop such appetite for books in people, then perhaps this idea would be the best one indeed. that is not the case, though. also, the prices they suggested for the books, between fifty cents and two dollars, do not represent a significant amount, and a great deal of books would have to be sold for the money raised to be enough.
as for the second proposal, even though it may look unrelated to the institution itself, it does make sense when we think of our main purpose. a car wash is usually a quick and efficient way to raise money. according to the proposal, not many volunteers would be needed - only around ten - and i'm sure all kinds of people would be happy to volunteer for such a fun activity. the proposal also states the truth when it says that even people who don't enjoy reading like to have clean cars, so we'll probably attract all kinds of people. i believe, thus, that this proposal is more effective.
