Which detail from "The Jackal" BEST supports the central ideas that jackals are cunning and opportunistic?

There are many that believe the language written in this book is nonesense but in my opionion the author had a rhyme and reason (for lack of better words) to portray his story. It is essential to keep the reader interested.
There are a great deal of other scholars who believe that the language in Gulliver's Travels is based on Hebrew.  
The movie adaptaions vary greatly.
