Who can be in favor of folks running red lights? No one. But before we legalize cameras at red lights, let's look at a much simpler plan: On intersections where there's a problem, make the yellow signal one second longer. People will see the yellow light sooner and have more time to stop instead of trying to "beat the light." Then continue to keep statistics and see if accidents go down. What will happen if the law passes that allows the use of hidden video cameras at traffic lights? The companies that sell the cameras will approach cities and offer to install the cameras for free, in exchange for a percentage of the ticket proceeds. And by the way, the companies that sell the cameras will require that the yellow lights be shortened on intersections where the cameras are installed.
