9 Writing Lorenzo and Jessica are in love with each other but can't marry because he is a
Christian and she is a Jew. Jessica is very unhappy at home so Lorenzo has promised
he will come and take her away. In the letter she sends her lover she tells him to
come that evening. She gives him instructions about what to do and says that she
will bring some of her father's gold coins and jewels with her. She also tells him what
they must do to avoid being caught by her father and describes what their future
life together will be like.
