This is true but a bit deceiving. The actual Battle of Normandy was fought in Normandy, France, but the Allies assembled in England before the invasion took place.

Back then, the middle class especially the working class were struggling to get food on the table and trying to paid the taxes. Technically, they received low salary while working longer hours. Which made them form labor unions to justified this harsh terms. Plus, they didn’t welcome the immigrants. It’s all about discriminating them based on what nation they came from and that they just moved in. During that time, white supremacy was very real and acceptable. Because of this misconception, they were mistreated more badly compared to the legal citizens who lived longer than them. And unskilled and skilled workers were both treated harshly no matter what.
