How did different indian societies confront the environmental challenges?

In the past, the Indians of North America did not have to face environmental crises until colonists arrived and began to exploit natural resources; since then, the Indians have tried to convince the Americans to preserve nature, for over 200 years they have preserved natural areas that are sacred to them; we can say that the American Indians were the first ecologists, with only the example of Chief Seattle addressing President Franklin Pierce, to tell him that man is part of nature, and if nature dies, so is man.
