The Spanish class that included Spanish colonists born in the Americas were the Criollos.
Explanation:
In the Spanish colonial caste system, a criollo was someone who was ethnic Spanish but was born in the colonies. Criollo's were in this hierarchy under peninsulares (Spaniards born in Europe), and above the Mestizos and the Mulattos. The measure of whether someone was a criollo was not particularly strict. Everyone who was born in the colonies and was at least 5 / 6th ethnic Spanish was criollo, so many criollo's were not "pure" white but had a small part of Native American or African background. Sometimes it was even possible for someone who was more than 1 / 6th non-white to buy recognition as a criollo. In the 18th century, the criollo's were influenced by the Enlightenment. They started calling themselves americanos and demanded equivalence with the peninsulares. The Mexican War of Independence and the South American Wars of Independence, such as the Argentine, were therefore largely led by belligerent criollos.
