Destructive interference will occur, causing the new wave to have less energy than Wave A or Wave B.
Explanation:
The superposition of two waves is called interference. There are two conditions of interference i.e. constructive interference and destructive interference.
When the two waves A and B combines such that they are in phase with each other is called constructive interference. The amplitude of resultant wave is more than the wave A and B.
When the trough of Wave A overlaps the crest of Wave B, destructive interference occurs. In this type, the resultant wave have less energy than wave A and wave B.
Hence, the correct option is (C) "Destructive interference will occur, causing the new wave to have less energy than Wave A or Wave B".
