Why would many reformers have been unsatisfied with the Fifteenth Amendment?

The Fifteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution was passed in order to ensure that state governments did not deny African Americans the right to vote. It forbade such discrimination based on "race, color, or previous condition of servitude." This amendment is considered one of the Reconstruction Amendments passed after the Civil War.

However, a reason why many reformers were unsatisfied with the amendment was the fact that it made no mention of women. The feminist movement believed that "gender" should have been added to the list of conditions that should not prevent one from voting. However, this protection was only passed with the Nineteenth Amendment in 1920.

The Fifteenth Amendment to the Constitution was approved in the Reconstruction period, on February 3, 1870. Through this amendment, the right to vote was guaranteed for minorities, specifically African-Americans, since this amendment prohibits preventing voting. to any citizen due to race, color or previous situation of slavery.

However, many reformers were upset with the text of this amendment, since it excluded women from this right to vote. This was so since at the time of the enactment of this amendment women were not considered citizens of the United States, but simply inhabitants born in the country but without political rights.
