D)
The wheat uses some, some is converted to heat, and the rest is passed to the person eating the cereal
Explanation:
All living organisms require energy for their life processes. This energy is obtained by breaking down food molecules in order to release the usable form (ATP) by our cells. However, only some unique set of plants called PRODUCERS are capable of producing their own food via the process of photosynthesis. When plant falls into this category.
After the wheat plant synthesizes energy from breaking down glucose in its cell called RESPIRATION, the plant uses a portion of the energy for its own life functions e.g. growth, reproduction etc. and loses the energy as heat. It then passes the remaining energy to herbivores and omnivores known as CONSUMERS like human beings, which we use for our own life functions as well.
