1. answer the question or the prompt and all of its components. if you need selecting appropriate character traits, use this character traits list to . strive to fill one page (double-spaced) by writing two solid paragraphs. each paragraph will focus on explaining one trait. you must write 2 paragraphs and each paragraph must be at least three sentences.

a. choose quotes that are meaningful - quotes that are important to the story and connect to the ideas you are discussing.

3. include meaningful commentary explaining why your quotes are important as evidence of your chosen character traits and how they support your ideas.

4. use links or transitions to connect one idea to the next. here’s a resource: using transitions effectively.

5. write using 3rd person point of view and a formal, objective style. write in present tense. avoid first (i) and second (you) person pronouns and use proper grammar, spelling, and capitalization. follow mla format. a good alternative to “i” and “you” is “the reader.”
