La familia, la escuela y la sociedad cumplen las funciones mas importantes para la formación del ciudadano.

La familia es el lugar donde el ser humano nace y es el primer lugar en donde va conociendo las normas y reglas para poder crecer como un ciudadano. La familia es un área en donde la persona va desarrollando sus conductas. Aprende, por medio de las acciones de las personas que vive, lo que debe de hacer y lo que no. La familia es la primera escuela, donde la persona inicia su proceso de formación.
La escuela pasa a ser el segundo lugar de formación y aquel lugar de transición. Ya la persona sale de su ambiente en el hogar y se da la oportunidad de interactuar con otras personas, por lo que estará expuesto a distintas conductas y formas de pensar que pueden influir en lo que había aprendido hasta el momento. La escuela forma parte de su formación a nivel personal y profesional, empieza a preparar a la persona para que esta desarrolle las habilidades necesarias para enfrentarse al mundo.
La sociedad lo engloba todo. La familia y la escuela forman parte de esta esfera. La sociedad abarca estos y otros factores a los cuales el ser humano va a estar expuesto. Va a ver mayor diversidad, niveles altos de competición y un crecimiento muy rápido de todo a su alrededor. La sociedad empuja al ser humano a que debe de ser el mejor, a competir y a demostrar todo lo que ha aprendido desde su nacimiento.
Cada una de estas esferas juega un papel fundamental. La persona es formada por distintas esferas y al final ese producto es arrojado a la sociedad para contribuir al crecimiento de la misma.
