Let x= total number of gallons Bob's gas tank can hold

Step Two: Create an equation

(1/6)(x)+7=(1/2)(x)

.17x+7=.50x

.17x-.50x=-7

-0.33x=-7

x=21

∴Bob's gas tank can hold 21 gallons.
